• Bush Peas – is there really such a thing?

For years I’ve seen those packages of peas on the shelf proclaiming “bush peas” as something completely different from climbing peas. Then I plant the darn things (as directed, 2 inches apart) and have to string them anyway. For heaven’s sake!

Peas sprouting – Planted closer together for bushing

This year I have chosen Oregon sugar snap pods (a variety that I have grown before) and am going to try planting them closer together– one inch, even closer in some spots. The theory is that they will cling to one another for support and not need staking or stringing.

So far looking pretty good! I’ll update this as things progress.
